Variations on clip binding

With clamp binding, sheets of paper are fed by hand into a clamp rail. This is made of sturdy plastic and can be attached to either the short or long edge of the document. If the document is also to be mounted on a rigid background, self-adhesive clamp rails are a suitable solution. The adhesive strip is self-adhesive and can secure the document, for example, to a clipboard (menu) or a glass window (advertising material). For high-quality binding of thick documents, clamp bindings in the form of bookbinding folders are ideal. These enclose the entire document and are available as hardcover or softcover clamp bindings.

Advantages of clip binding

The key advantage of clamp binding over other binding methods is that the paper does not need to be perforated and no special tools are required to use the clamp rails. Furthermore, clamp binding is very user-friendly: By removing the clamp rail , individual pages can be easily detached, sorted out or added to. Clamp binding is therefore particularly popular for documents intended for a limited period (e.g. menus, advertising posters). In principle, the clamp binding is suitable for all documents that need to be bound quickly and easily (application portfolios, workbooks, handouts). Thanks to the reusable and cost-effective clamp rails, clamp binding is also financially advantageous.

The capacity level indicates how many sheets can be held. With our standard clamp rails, you can choose between capacity heights of 3–4 mm and 5–6 mm, and sizes DIN A5, A4 and A3. You can also choose from a range of colours (black, white, transparent) to give your documents a personalised and attractive look. They are also available in a smaller thickness (1 mm) as well as special and oversized versions (50 mm, 100 mm, 1000 mm) to enable precise binding. The Leitz hardcover clamp binding is made from high-quality cardboard with a linen finish (colours: black, white, blue). The softcover clamp binding consists of flexible PE material on the front and cardboard on the back (colours: black, white, blue, burgundy). By choosing a suitable colour and capacity, you can customise your Leitz clamp binder and create a first-class binding product.
