An SmCo pot magnet is a magnetic system made of samarium-cobalt (SmCo). This is a cobalt alloy of the rare earth metal samarium. The magnet is embedded in a steel or stainless steel pot, which strengthens the magnetic force of the magnet and protects it from corrosion. These magnets are characterised by a high temperature resistance, a high coercivity and a high remanence. Due to their high content of cobalt, they are particularly durable and powerful, but also more expensive than magnetic systems with other magnetic materials.
