The staple-binding process

Staple binding, also known as wire-o binding or saddle stitching, is a simple yet effective binding method. If you want to do staple binding yourself, you will need a manual stapler or a stapling machine and the appropriate staples. As a preparatory step, fold the sheets of paper in half and nest them inside one another. Then load the staple into the stapler and push it through the centre line of the folded pages from the back. The staple then strikes the base of the stapler, where it is bent round by a guide. Staple binding can use two, three or four staples. The more staples used, the stronger the binding.
